Depression
Depression is a serious illness that has a negative effect on the mood of the person affected and influences their thinking and actions. The illness has multiple facets and can manifest itself in very different ways. In most cases, sufferers feel weak, listless and often see no point in pursuing an activity. However, the sufferer may also be agitated in thought and movement. This is called agitated depression. If the sufferer complains of physical discomfort that cannot be attributed to any organic cause, the reason for the pain may be masked depression. Regardless of the type of depression, each form requires treatment and should not be ignored.
The clinical picture can also have an organic origin and should therefore be identified by a doctor first. Hypothyroidism is one potential cause of depression, along with diabetes, tumour or multiple sclerosis. Mild to moderate depression with a psychogenic origin can be positively influenced with the help of hypnosis and psychotherapy.
Exhaustion
Exhaustion is a state of dejection and lack of strength, which can be caused by over-exertion. It leads to inner restlessness and altered sleep patterns, giving the body no chance to regenerate. However, exhaustion can also be an accompanying syndrome of burn-out, and the two should be differentiated between.
Burn-out
Burn-out is often diagnosed in people for whom professional life has taken over and rest is rare. Always being ready to work can cause a burnt-out feeling, which is accompanied by excessive demands and stress. People suffering from burn-out syndrome complain of a difficulty in concentrating, a lack of ideas and an inner emptiness.
Exhaustion and burnout may lead to depression. With this group of complaints, a plan to relieve the strain is recommended, as well as psychotherapy. Usually, hypnosis and EMDR techniques can also have a positive impact on the sufferer.
